EMERGE
Engaging Mentorship and Experiential Research for Graduate Excellence
“We envision a future where students emerge as thoughtful clinicians, faithful scholars, and resilient leaders—anchored in both professional excellence and spiritual depth.”

The EMERGE Program is a professional development initiative designed to support students in counseling and psychology as they grow into ethical, compassionate, and skilled mental health professionals.
Through a unique blend of structured mentorship and research support, EMERGE provides a formative space where students can deepen their clinical identity and expand their scholarly engagement
EMERGE is also grounded in a commitment to the integration of Christian faith and clinical practice. Students are encouraged to reflect on how their spiritual values inform their work with clients, their understanding of human flourishing, and their role as servant-leaders in the mental health field.
Whether through one-on-one mentoring or guided academic inquiry, EMERGE fosters a holistic approach to professional formation—one that values both spiritual insight and scientific excellence.
Currently, EMERGE encompasses two distinct programs: the EMERGE Student Research Grant and the McNeil Scholars Project
The EMERGE Student Research Grant
The EMERGE Student Research Grant is available to students whose poster or presentation has been accepted for a CAPS Conference. Students may apply for funds to defer costs related to the conference at which they will present.
