Breaking the Counseling Barriers in the Global Context

Gladys Mwiti, PhD., is a Consulting Clinical Psychologist in Nairobi, Kenya.  She is the Founder and CEO of Oasis Africa Center for Transformational Psychology & Trauma, a pan-African professional organization that is shaping counseling and psychology in Africa. Dr. Mwiti serves as the President of the Kenya Psychological Association. She obtained her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Psychology at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, California. She has published five books, and has spoken at numerous international conferences.

Angela Sabates, PhD., is is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Bethel University in Minnesota.  She got her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Northwestern University in Chicago. She has made numerous professional contributions to conferences and literature dealing with Catholic Psychology and Cross-Cultural/Latino-Cuban Psychology; she is the author of the popular social psychology text, Social Psychology in Christian Perspective: Exploring the Human Condition.

A Walking Disaster: Cultivating Faith and Resilience in Times of Personal Crisis

Jamie Aten, PhD., is is the Rech Endowed Chair & Associate Professor in the Psychology Department and the Founder & Co-Director of the  Humanitarian Disaster Institute at Wheaton College in Illinois. He received his PhD in Counseling Psychology from Indiana State University. Dr. Aten has written numerous journal articles and book chapters, and has co/authored eight books, including the American Psychological Association best-seller, Spiritually Oriented Interventions For Counseling and Psychotherapy.  He was the recipient of the American Psychological Association Division 36 (Psychology of Religion) Early Career Award in 2009 and 2011. Jamie is a courageous survivor of cancer, and has written about and spoken to many Christian and secular audiences about this battle.
