Thursday Evening Opening Plenary Session Gary Moon, PhD Dr. Moon is a licensed psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia. Presently, he is serving as Vice President, Chair of Integration and Professor of Psychology and Spirituality at the Psychological Studies Institute, where he was responsible for starting the journal, Conversations. He also serves as the Director for the Renovaré International Institute for Christian Spiritual Formation and as a writer/editor for LifeSprings Resources. He is the founding director of the Institute for Clinical Theology, a gathering of evangelical scholars who are interested in promoting training in the classic Christian spiritual disciplines among mental health professionals and pastoral counselors. Gary has spoken and published widely on the topics of spiritual formation and Christian counseling. There is not a more pastoral, genuine, and caring person…and good friend of CAPS… to bless and warmly greet us at our 2009 opening plenary session!
Friday Morning Plenary Session Debra Taylor, MA Debra Taylor is a licensed marriage, family, and child therapist in Ventura, California. She is also certified as a sex therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. In her private practice, Debra specializes in marital therapy, sex therapy, affair recovery, premarital therapy, depression and women’s issues. Additional professional work includes being on faculty at: The Institute for Sexual Wholeness (in affiliation with The Psychological Studies Institute of Atlanta, GA), where she teaches sex therapy at the graduate level; and training health professionals, pastors, and churches in healthy sexuality through a non-profit organization called Sexual Wholeness, Inc. She is a co-author of the popular book, Secrets of Eve: Understanding the Mystery of Female Sexuality. Friday Luncheon Plenary Session Saul Cruz, MS Saul Cruz, of Mexico City, is founder and co-director (for 29 years) of Armonia Ministries together with his wife, Pilar Cruz. Their ministry is to poor communities in both urban and rural areas in Mexico. He is a psychologist, family therapist, and university lecturer. He has served as president of the governing board for COMPA in Mexico. He has worked for other various organizations in Mexico, including World Vision, and has also pastored two churches. Saul speaks internationally, including delivering a keynote address at Urbana 2006. Join us for lunch and stay to hear this dynamic speaker, a man of God who truly “walks the talk” in ministries to the least of the disenfranchised among us.
Saturday Morning Plenary Session Anne Grizzle, LCSW Anne Grizzle is a licensed clinical social worker with degrees from Harvard and Columbia Universities, who works as a psychotherapist, consultant and workshop leader. In her Houston, Texas-based practice, shespecializes in the treatment of grief, family of origin issues, family communication, and contemplative spirituality. She is co-founder of Houston Women of Vision and serves on the board of Leighton Ford Ministries and Amistad Mission. She also serves on the Builders Council for Community of Hope and volunteers at San Mateo Church. Anne has completed training with Shalem Institute as a group spiritual director and offers workshops and retreats on contemplative spirituality. Anne has authored three books, including Reminders of God: Altars for Personal and Family Devotion; she is in constant demand as a national speaker and author, and has appeared on “Oprah”.
